I'm thinking of buying a Rasberry PI for my 12 year old
and I to dinker around with. Any suggestions to anyone
who owns one, as to the model/features I should consider?
    I'll use it to learn

Hi, It depends on what you want to do with it.

If you want to use it as a computer, with keyboard/monitor/mouse,
then one of the full-size ones is the way to go, because it has all
    of those ports.

For a lot of people $ talk first. If you want to stick your big toe in and see

what they can do, a PiZeroW I would guess the PiZero's are much the same I don't think I've ever see one for sale though. Are one of the cheapest boards going round. You only need an access point to hitch it up to, getting it hitched is pretty straight forward. If it seems like a thing you want to keep working with you can invest a little more heavily. Zero's in general are usually headless though, so if thats a problem for you, you'd want something that covers that instead. I've not found the need for a display though.

I reckon I paid less than that for my ZeroW still it was a while back now. You can also pick some of this gear up second hand reasonably cheep too.
