I thought of setting up Usenet again, but I'm not sure if there's
much worth reading nowadays. :(

You might be surprised.. some of them are. I only poke through CSA2 now, back then used to have the whole CSA2 hierarchy which is gone, and a few things I can't recall now.

If you can't get an answer via whatever your other sources it still seems pretty solid not as fast as some but effective still.
