• Crazy Idea....

Just ordered 100 ft 18 ga speaker wire at work to create a foot on my MP-1 SuperAntenna.

Has anyone ever tried to tune up a metal window screen like they have on apartments? My screen is metal with a metal mesh...even though it's not the best thing to use...it is available & would not be noticeable to the manager.

Just a wild idea before heading to the salt mines this evening.

I am not a HAM operator, but that sounds like a really neat idea if you can
    get it working.

Back in the early days (about 100 or so years ago during rapid
experimentation for amateurs)...you hear stories of hams using metal bed springs...fences & in Germany...using a safety rail along their highway for
    an extra long antenna.

    Hey Phoobar,
I just went out and picked up the last 365 days of mail from the hub :)

I've tuned up gutters as antennas in HOA's that don't allow antennas :)
That speaker wire will make a great beverage antenna!

They actually did that on "Quantum Leap". As long as you can find a place to put the wire...must've been better than the ones who are running wires around their walls to do the same thing.

Been using that with the MP-1 SuperAntenna as the legs. Even got 1 of the 30'+/- feet being used with my home built EndFed.

Am considering running this 50'spool of 18 ga as a long wire by splitting
each side & soldering both ends together with a piece of shrink wrap to cover it to even use it outside eventually. Would also need to buy the long
wire balun for my LDG Z100 tuner.
