I have no idea why but I'm starting to loose faith in HPT

Yeah. On one hand you have mystic bugs, on the other hand you have hpt
bugs. Just got to work out which bugs are less annoying.

I don't really have much faith in any stuff coded for BBSing, my own
    stuff included.

in crashmail though, i'm just missing some functionality)

if it is really a bug in hpt, maybe it can be fixed?

(last week i found a bug in our other toaster that we rarely use: a dead wasp)

    Heh..

To be fair I don't know if it's a bug in HPT or not, it's more likely it's something in my config or I am wondering perhaps an avail memory thing? If it were an issue with HPT I'm picking more systems would have been saying something by now that use HPT. Dunno.

I can say I do feel way more comfortable using Mystic (funny that) and that while it's been fun to try HPT (well fun for the most part) I'm thinking of moving back to Mystic.

The missing packets originally seemed to be solved when we kept MUTIL for tossing but swapped out the Mystic BinkP server for BinkD..

I note g00r00 is again active and just read a report of an updated pre-alpha available now that addresses the 2020 bug so that's great to see. I remain hopeful g00r00 can also look into and address the other FTN issues that have been reported over recent months...

The pain in the rear with HPT (for me at least) is the vast amount of text config in config files for the nodes a HUB must service... and get one line wrong etc. and the node suffers etc. It took me ages to set up for some 100+ nodes n NET 1.

Anywho that's where my head is at at the moment, and I also have to manually
go through some 100+ fileboxes and remove a bunch of empty packets sitting waiting for nodes to poll and collect and for those using Fidopoll I think an issue to even collect...

Could another system sending you empty packets also somehow result in those packets getting forwarded to other systems?
