15 months from now in Toronto, Ontario, the resale market has
placed many tickets into the high 4-digit $ range

There really should be a system in place that ties the ticket
purchase to the individual and not allow resale.

Meh, that would allow orgs to track people's activities and that would suck more than having people be willingly scammed.

Bots always seem to buy up the initial offerings within
minutes. By the time regular concert goers try to buy tickets,
they are all gone. Then, the tickets find their way onto 3rd
party sites at much inflated prices.

I don't understand why bots can't be stymied or the ticket
purchasing process can't be slowed down with "are you human"
tests. It's almost as if the initial seller has a vested
interest in the 3rd-party reseller biz and even justify raising
the prices if the demand for them increases.

Think you're on to something there :P

I remember being at a sushi restaurant in Santa Monica and the Ticketmaster CEO was a couple of tables down. I so badly wanted the waitstaff to fuck with his food.

Honestly, if people is paying high prices from resellers, is that tickets are actually worth that much, and then the show promoters should be raising the prices themselves..

Or, more likely, people should stopm paying stupid prices.

Reseller systems probably are banking on the FOMO (fear of
missing out) factor from normal concert prospects.

Or, more likely, people should stopm paying stupid prices.

It would be amazing if people simply refused to purchase re-
sold tickets at all. Maybe THEN that would send a clear
message. Meanwhile, there is nothing stopping a primary seller
like TicketMaster to buy some of the prime seats themselves and
post them for resale elswhere at double or triple prices.

Yes.. people should simply stop participating in the resale
    market.

I've been to a reasonable share of different types of concerts:
arenas, large and small stages, as well as outdoor. I had
center floor seats for a KISS concert in an areana (but nobody
remained seated once the music started).. and so, it wasn't
worth it - I couldn't really see the stage very well when
    people decided to stand up.

I saw Billy Joel in an arena. The stage was on the broad side
of the arena, and my seats were in the elevated narrow end -
wasn't worth it - the seats were really too far away.

Saw Bryan Adams in a similar arrangement: stage on the
broadside. But that time I had seats pretty close to the side
of the stage. That was better because I could see the performer
    up close.

So.. no more arena-type concerts for me, thx.

I've had much more value for the price of a ticket at a proper
indoor sound stage and proper seating.

Swift's arena shows are probably pre-recorded music anyway and
she just dances and sings along.

Anything would be better than nothing. To allow bots to snatch
up 1000s of tickets within minutes seems unfair to real fans.

And.. implement it in a way that requires one captcha for each
purchase, a maximum of 2 tickets at a time.

I've seen a newer type of captcha recently. The viewer is faced
with ONE image that contains a variety of different things, and
you are asked to click on the precise spot on the screen where
that thing is. It's not one of those hard 3x3 or 4x4 grids of
mini images, but ONE image and you have to tap/click on.

I have a young niece that idolizes her and I think she's a great role model for girls. I can't say I'm into her tunes at all but I respect that she writes and plays her own stuff.
