DtCyber is a high fidelity simulator of Control Data 6000, 70, 170, and 700, series supercomputers.
It works pretty well, too! I've got NOS 2.8.7 running
connected to my local ham radio network. It's kind of
nifty to be able to call it over AX.25.
The first computer I used in college was a Cyber 170, I ran Pascal code
on it, and later used an app called Primix that gave it a UNIX shell environment for classwork - because the school didn't have any UNIX systems back then!
We've lost a number of interesting and innovative
systems, and we've lost the perspective that they
brought. It's a real shame.
