SPOILER WARNING: Information about NYT Connections today is below, so don't read on if you don't want to know the answers. NYT Connections today (game #570) - today's words (Image credit: New York Times)

What are some clues for today's NYT Connections groups? YELLOW: Slithering GREEN: All lit up BLUE: Seen in Amsterdam PURPLE: Drop at the end

We're firmly in spoiler territory now, but read on if you want to know what the four theme answers are for today's NYT Connections puzzles NYT
Connections today (game #570) - hint #2 - group answers

What are the answers for today's NYT Connections groups? YELLOW: SLIMY
ANIMALS GREEN: THINGS THAT LUMINESCE BLUE: DUTCH SYMBOLS PURPLE: ENDING WITH SYNONYMS FOR "PLUNGE"

Right, the answers are below, so DO NOT SCROLL ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM. NYT Connections today (game #570) - the answers (Image credit: New York Times)

The answers to today's Connections, game #570, are YELLOW: SLIMY ANIMALS EARTHWORM, EEL, SALAMANDER, SLUG GREEN: THINGS THAT LUMINESCE AURORA,
FIREFLY, GLOWSTICK, RADIUM BLUE: DUTCH SYMBOLS CANAL, CLOG, TULIP, WINDMILL PURPLE: ENDING WITH SYNONYMS FOR "PLUNGE" GATECRASH, RAINDROP, SKYDIVE, WATERFALL My rating: Moderate My score: 2 mistakes

Creatures that give me the ick seemed an obvious category for a group, but it turned out to be correct as EARTHWORM, EEL, SALAMANDER, and SLUG were all classed as SLIMY ANIMALS.

I once lived in a basement flat where myself and my flatmates fought a constant war of attrition against slugs, who somehow found their way into our damp and miserable hovel. Although Im sure it would be considered an act of cruelty by many slug lovers, we attempted to block them from entering our abode with lines of table salt at all points of entry, but still, they
managed to slime their way inside past our sodium barricade and wed find silvery trails across the floors each morning, or worse accidentally step on
a glutinous blob in our bare feet a slug between your toes is not something youd want to experience, trust me.

The solution was obvious wear CLOGs or move out. Yesterday's NYT Connections answers (Tuesday, 31 December, game #569) YELLOW: MOVE QUICKLY BOLT, DART, DASH, FLY GREEN: FUN TIME BALL, BLAST, KICK, THRILL BLUE: WORDS BEFORE AN ADDRESSEE ATTENTION, DEAR, FOR, TO PURPLE: NAME _ BRAND, DROP, GAME, NAMES What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green
is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough and purple usually very difficult.

On the plus side, you don't technically need to solve the final one, as
you'll be able to answer that one by a process of elimination. What's more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.

It's a little more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there
are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For instance, watch out for homophones and other word games that could disguise the answers.

It's playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

The answers to today's Connections, game #577, are YELLOW: SECTION BRANCH, DIVISION, LIMB, WING GREEN: ACCESSORIES FOR PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT BOW, DRUMSTICK, MALLET, PICK BLUE: DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF AN ELEPHANT EAR,
MEMORY, TRUNK, TUSK PURPLE: WORDS MISSPELLED IN NU METAL BAND NAMES BISCUIT, CORN, LINCOLN, STAINED My rating: Moderate My score: 2 mistakes

The first thing I thought when I saw LIMB and BISCUIT beside each other on
the grid was that would be a good name for a rap-rock covers band, but did I think it could be a Connections group? No I did not. I just thought it was
    one of their jokes.

Instead, I convinced myself that DRUMSTICK, CORN, PICK and BISCUIT were all things youd find at a KFC. Which is sort of true, although that wouldnt be a particularly exciting order.

I saw sense in the end after spotting the four words that made up SECTION and ACCESSORIES FOR PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT, but still got DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF AN ELEPHANT ahead of Nu Metal misspellings. PEANUT, ROBOT, TOAD My rating: Tricky My score: 2 mistakes

Today was one of those days where the yellow group went completely over my head and I was able to connect Mr ROBOT with his other pals (purple) and MARTINI SPECIFICATIONS (blue) ahead of what is supposed to be the easiest foursome. In truth, I still dont get it, but then I am a bit SHY on the knowledge front.

LACKING reminds me of an excellent joke that was recently retold on the brilliant Search Engine podcast two women are complaining about the lousy food at a resort theyre staying at. Yes, agrees one of the women, and the portions are so small.

Theres a life lesson there. Less is more, more is less, one of those. Yesterday's NYT Connections answers (Tuesday, 14 January, game #583) YELLOW: OPERATING ACTIVE, FUNCTIONAL, RUNNING, WORKING GREEN: TERM MEETING, PERIOD, SESSION, SITTING BLUE: THINGS IN A CAMERA KIT BODY, FLASH, LENS, STRAP

DISCUSSION, LAB, LECTURE, SEMINAR BLUE: ONES WEARING ROBES BOXER, JUDGE,
MONK, WIZARD PURPLE: ___ UP BATTER, BOTTOMS, CHIN, LAWYER My rating: Moderate My score: 1 mistake

As someone who spends most of their life almost exclusively in denim and fleece, the idea of having to wear a robe to do my job seems utterly bizarre although it could add a touch of panache to my day spent sitting in front of
    a laptop pretending to work.

It is really odd when you consider it and who decided the ONES WEARING ROBES had to wear robes anyway? Of the quartet in todays Connections, a robe makes most sense for a boxer, considering they are wearing so little under them. Plus, they look good with your name on the back something JUDGE and MONK
robe merchants could learn from perhaps?

Only one mistake from me today, as I momentarily thought TYPES OF ACADEMIC COURSES could include JUDGE. What a fool.

After Mondays SEEN IN THE SHINING category I momentarily convinced myself
that there was a group of words today linked by another horror classic, The Exorcist maybe? POSSESSED, WICKED, DROOL all seemed vaguely connected. But then I thought if Connections was doing that theyd at least have Priest and Vomit.

Having seen none of the MOVIE SERIES WITH 2024 RELEASES I bagged the Blue group by just thinking they all seemed linked somehow, before spying the
HOUSE connection to FULL, GINGERBREAD, WHITE, and HAUNTED.

As for Yellow Im still annoyed about BORE and in the aftermath Merriam-Webster is not helping. Back to school for me.
