Todays Strands features some very famous Ladies of the human and non-human variety.

Missing on the list is my favourite Lady Mondegreen, which has come to describe the phenomenon of misheard lyrics. Journalist Sylvia Wright coined the term in the 1950s after admitting that as a child she misheard the words "laid him on the green" as Lady Mondegreen in the ballad The Bonnie Earl o' Moray .

Famous Mondegreens include people hearing theres a bathroom on the right instead of theres a bad moon on the rise in Bad Moon Rising and "the girl
with kaleidoscope eyes" in Beatles classic Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds as "the girl with colitis goes by.

Coincidentally, Lady MARMALADE is a common Mondegreen particularly the Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Mya and Pink version, with people mishearing Creole Lady Marmalade as Free old Lady Marmalade and Voulez-vous coucher avec moi as an invitation to crochet with Sasquatch.

The answers to today's Strands, game #317, are PARKA SCARF JACKET GLOVES MITTENS BEANIE SPANGRAM: WINTER CLOTHES My rating: Easy My score: Perfect

I feel today's Strands was missing the most essential of WINTER CLOTHES ear muffs. Theyre a game changer.

According to outdoorsman and author Alfred Wainwright there is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing.

When you consider that this statement was made in 1973, long before the multiple advances in cold weather clothing, its an even bolder statement.

Wainwright who made his name writing and illustrating walking guides to the north of England was thinking of a woolen sweater, flat cap and a pipe
rather than a base layer made from polyamide yarn infused with coffee-bean shells, SmartWool socks, a Thinsulate mid layer, a Thermoball jacket and a pair of GoreTex pants.

The answers to today's Strands, game #324, are CHERRY BOSS MAJOR PHAT FRESH RADICAL TUBULAR SPANGRAM: DATED SLANG My rating: Moderate My score: 2 hints

As someone who still greets old friends with an impression of a 1990s Budweiser commercial, Ive no truck with calling the SLANG included in todays Strands DATED as if its lame or something. In fact Im buggin about it. Ive only just gotten over saying Cowabunga when my team score a goal.

Having said all that, I still struggled a little with todays puzzle. Even though they were the last two words, it took me yonks to come up with RADICAL and TUBULAR I mean, Im sure RALUBUT is slang for something somewhere.

Apart from having the longest Spangram I've ever seen beating last
Septembers ROOT VEGETABLES with 15 letters todays Strands was a walk, or should we say ride, in the park. Let me know if youve seen a longer one.

Naturally, I was hoping that a nosebag would be on the list. Although it is not really something youd need for HORSEBACK RIDING, I enjoy how its become slang for mindlessly eating snacks. Something I may do now and then!
